UPDATED: (06/10/16) 7:40 a.m. – SLATER, Mo.– Two Slater residents have been shot dead after KMZU News received reports at 1:43 a.m. Thursday morning of shots fired in Slater, Missouri. The first was in the 800 block of Park Place.

Slater Police confirmed one of the victims found at that location is Ryan Sanders, 35. Sanders was transported to an area hospital and later reported dead.

At approximately 8 a.m. Thursday Sheriff Mullins was notified of a dead individual outside of city limits. That victim has been identified as Bonnie Hupp, 83, who also died from an apparent gunshot wound. Hupp lived at 30687 Nickel Avenue in Slater. She was found deceased and removed from the residence after evidence was gathered by authorities.
Hupp is reported by the sheriff’s office to be the grandmother-in-law of Ryan Sanders.

Sheriff Mullins says that investigators are continuing to follow leads and conduct interviews in an effort to find the suspect. Early reports of a white male suspect were not confirmed by the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff Mullins also said this is most likely an isolated incident and is asking anyone with information to contact the Saline County Sheriff’s Office at (660) 886-5511.
