JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A suspected gang member from the state of California is being held by the Jefferson City Police Department.
The Visalia California Police 
Department advised Jefferson City Police that Steven Lopez, 25, may have fled to Missouri after a kidnapping and murder in California. Around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, officers responding to an unrelated call recognized Lopez and he sat in a nearby parked car.
Lopez bolted when officers approached the car but he was caught after a short foot chase.
